may I ask, why 75 ohms, surely less copper in the transmission line and cheaper cost. Russian military antennas not knowing why, are all 75ohm?

For receiving, you can safely use either. Losses from using 75ohm would be negligible. Only for TX you want 50ohm.

The SMA plug remains the same, 50 Ohm impedance, only the coaxial cable is 75 Ohm.
