DIY Wi-Fi Antenna Cheaply

We've shared tons of ways to boost your home Wi-Fi, but if you need something a bit more powerful, this DIY antenna can stretch your wireless network much further.

Simply use this sardine cane box from which the  cover is used for patch antenna...

This box is ideal for the construction of antennas in the 5 GHz band and beyond...

Thank,

But it I'll be nice to mark dimensions for the patch.

And even the fish cans are almost standard just measure yours:)

Thanks:)))

This will be very interesting experiment:)))

Requires just several hours and two RP SMA connectors.

You may wondering why I`m mentioning two?

Because its for the router and the device have pair of plastic omnidirectional 2-3DBi antennas for 5GHz band.

I may even put them in MiMo configuration (45 or 135 degrees apart) on plastic board.....

In any case, unfortunately i doesn't have any means to test the performance accurately.

According to simulation Fishtena or Sadrintena, even Haringtena:))))))

have excellent characteristic between 5,7 and 5,9GHz, bur only means i have to prove that will be number of clients/AP connections:))))

Maybe I should supply some test equipment....

If you realy want to try different designs than its worth to buy a nanovna, they are not so expensive anymore. 15 years ago when i try to make antennas i simply compared the signal i get from them from a external router. Better signal, better antenna. But with a vna you can measure if the antenna is good and you can compare different builds or even change some parts for adjustment.

If you only want a cheap antenna that even works when the dimensions are not 100% perfect try to make a batwing antenna. They are so broadband that even a small mistake will not change that much that the antenna is useless. For the Haringtenna i think you have to find a can with exactly these dimensions to bring it to work.
