How does the FEED point looks...? it should be be wider band...

I also tried to simulate this antenna. I had return loss shows that this antenna can work between 800-2700MHz with little tuning but I couldn't get gain up to 5dBi

Only way I see to increase gain...is a reflector (Not omni anymore , but could add 3dbi (multiplying elements cuts down on bandwidth and impedance changes)
